Heman is part of the inaugural class of Kessler Presidential Scholars, a program supporting first-generation college students at Cornell.

Heman says, "To be a first generation student means that I have a lot to accomplish due to the fact that my siblings would be following in my footsteps, it also means that I am very privileged to be able to be here in Cornell!" During her time at Cornell, Heman hopes to be an involved member of society and leave her mark. She also hopes to make life long friendships with people from around the globe!
