Welcome to Cornell's Living-Learning Communities

You'll find a strong connection between living and learning at Cornell as you settle into your new home. Over 55% of undergraduate students live on campus, learning from and growing with people who bring a wide variety of experiences, perspectives, and interests. For tours of program houses and residence halls, see @CornellHousing on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.

Winter Break:

All undergraduate residential buildings will close for Winter Break on Sunday, December 18 at 2:00pm. Please note that students who have not vacated their building by 2:00pm on December 19 could be charged $48.00 for every hour (or fraction of an hour) they remain in the building after that time.

Schedule Your Departure

To help us plan for appropriate support for winter break closing, please select the date and hour you plan to depart on the new Fall Departure page of your current housing application in the housing portal. The deadline to indicate your departure is December 4.

Students with a departure conflict who cannot meet the 2:00pm Sunday, December 18 closing deadline may request a one-night late departure via the Fall Departure page of your current application in the housing portal for a cost of $48.00.

About Winter Break Housing

Limited winter break housing is available to students who cannot travel home during this time. If you need housing during break (December 18, 2022-January 18, 2023), please complete the new Winter Housing page of your current housing application in the housing portal by December 4.

Current residents of Holland International Living Center and Loving House may stay in their current room at no additional cost. All residents needing to stay over winter break must complete the application.

Current residents of Townhouses, Mews Hall, High Rise #5, and Jameson Hall may stay in their current rooms at a cost of $1,280 for the winter term.

For residents of all other buildings, winter break accommodations will be provided in the floor lounges of High Rise #5 or Jameson with three to four students per room at a cost of $1,280 each. A bed and dresser will be provided for each student. Students will move themselves December 17-18 and will not have access to any belongings left in their current (fall) room during winter break. Students will move back to their original housing assignment on January 17.

Information regarding winter break meal plans will be available around December 1.
