The Language House, Cornell's language immersion residence, provides a unique living-learning community that helps students become comfortably fluent in one of the languages offered for the academic year.  Languages for the 2024-2025 academic year include Spanish, French,  Mandarin, Korean and Russian. 

NOTE: The Language House is not a traditional Program House. 

Community features: 

  • Open to upper-level students 
  • 50+ residents 
  • Single and double rooms arranged in suites with shared bathrooms. Suites in Language House are gender-inclusive.
  • Lounges, study areas, shared kitchen spaces, a music practice room, and laundry facilities 
  • Bedrooms contain, for each occupant: an extra-long twin bed, a wardrobe and three-drawer bureau, a desk and desk chair, a desk lamp, a wastebasket, and a recycling bin
  • Wireless Internet access
  • Language House rooms in Toni Morrison Hall are temperature-controlled. 

To apply for residency: Log in to the Housing Portal.  Applications are available now through 11:59pm on February 25, 2024. Please log into the housing portal to apply.  Students will be able to access the Language House application with a link on their 2024-2025 Academic Year application, as follows:

  • Rising sophomores: link on the new Program House page after Blocking page of the General Room Selection application.
  • Rising juniors and seniors with a housing assignment: on the new Room Change page after the License page.
  • Rising juniors and seniors without a housing assignment: on the Welcome and Building Preferences pages of the Wait List application.

The deadline to apply is Sunday February 25, 2024 at 11:59pm.
