Commencement Housing 2022

Residence Hall Accommodations for Families and Guests Spring 2022

Degree candidates participating in Commencement may make reservations for up to ten (10) beds for family members or friends to stay in guest housing for Commencement weekend. Only graduating students are permitted to make reservations. Students may log in to the housing portal beginning at 10:00am March 16, select the tab for Commencement Housing, and make their reservation.

Accommodations are in Cornell's undergraduate residential buildings on North and West campuses. Commencement Weekend dining hours can be found on the Cornell Dining website and on Cornell Dining Now. Many of our eateries are open through the weekend, with just a few remaining open on Monday, Memorial Day.

Guests are required to follow current Cornell University COVID-19 guidelines and should be prepared to wear masks while indoors and show proof of vaccination or negative pre-arrival covid test results before checking into commencement housing. Please visit https://covid.cornell.edu/events/ for details and updates.

Accommodations

Accommodations are available in the following buildings (subject to change):

Cornell's North Campus:

All rooms are in climate-controlled buildings. Rooms in Mews Hall are clustered with shared bathrooms. Ecology House offers double rooms with private bathrooms. Townhouse Apartments have two double-occupancy rooms, a shared bathroom, living area, and kitchen. Toni Morrison and Ganędagǫ: Halls offer rooms in suites with private bathrooms.

Cornell's West Campus:

All west campus rooms are in climate-controlled buildings. Rooms are in suites with private bathrooms, or are corridor-style with shared bathrooms.

Because undergraduate residences are designed for single students, only twin-size beds are available. A single room has one twin bed, and a double room has two twin beds.

Included:
Rooms are furnished with bed sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels. Hair dryers are not provided.

Bathrooms:
Many of the residence halls have common bathroom facilities. Some accommodations, such as the Townhouse Community or suites in the West Campus Houses and North campus, have bathrooms that are shared with other rooms within the townhouse or suite. Ecology House offers double rooms with private bathrooms.

Air conditioning, climate control:
Ecology House, and the Townhouse Community offer air-conditioned accommodations.

Toni Morrison Hall, Ganędagǫ: Hall, Mews Hall, Cook House, Bethe House, and Keeton House are climate-controlled buildings, but do not have individual air vents in each room, nor thermostats. Of note, west campus rooms have ceiling fans to complement the building's fixed temperature setting. All climate-controlled buildings have a temperature setting between 71 and 74 degrees.

Disabilities:
Adaptive accommodations are available for those with disabilities. While the request process has closed with Student Disability Services, you can reach out to us at the Housing Office at 607-255-5368 or commencement_housing@cornell.edu as outlined below.

Disability Housing Requests

Some residence hall space is adapted for people with disabilities. Because these facilities are very limited, we ask that anyone requesting accommodations for a guest who requires ADA accessible bathrooms to do so as soon as possible.

Note: There are numerous options for accommodations in buildings with elevator access, except Ecology House and Townhouses.

Your disability housing request must include the following information:

  • Name and gender of the guest and assistant (if needed).
  • Description of the personal needs or limitations of the guest.
  • Name, address, email address, telephone number of the guest.
  • Name, address, email address, telephone number of the degree candidate.
  • Total number of people in the group, to help us accommodate the rest of the group in close proximity.

In order to best accommodate all requests, disability housing reservations are not confirmed until after the March 7th deadline.

After March 7th, contact the Housing Office at 607-255-5368 or commencement_housing@cornell.edu to inquire about availability of disability housing.
