Jalen is part of the inaugural class of Kessler Presidential Scholars, a program supporting first-generation college students at Cornell.

When asked what he wants to accomplish during his four years at Cornell, Jalen said, "I want to meet as many people from as many different backgrounds as I can. My parents didn’t have the opportunity to have an experience known to be as intellectually, culturally, and socially enriching as college. I’d like to do my best to make the absolute most with this opportunity. I want to enrich my perspective. In my mind, that’s what college is truly all about!"
