PE 1604: Advanced Circus Arts

Circus Arts students

Class will be a hybrid of learning new skills in a variety of disciplines and the opportunity to practice, refine, and develop skills that students already have in the circus arts with customized coaching and support.  Students should feel confident that they have enough circus experience and vocabulary to practice independently in their discipline/s while also have an interest in learning new circus skills. This may mean practicing things they have learned in previous COE circus classes, at a circus school, or if self taught.

Circus culture has the facility and equipment to support the following disciplines for those who already have enough experience to self practice in any of the following: juggling, unicycling, equilibristics, flow arts, wire walking, handstands, partner acrobatics, tumbling, static trapeze, sling/hammock, aerial fabric, lyra/hoop, rope, cyr wheel, duo aerial. If you practice a discipline that is not listed here, please contact circus culture to enquire before signing up for the class to make sure we can support you.

Please note that it is important that students have circus skills specifically to take this class - if you have a background in similar/related arts or sports such as climbing, pole, gymnastics, martial arts, dance, capoeira, etc you are still required to take an intro circus class first as a background in circus will ensure we can elevate and develop your existing skills in this class.Class structure will be a led warm up, group foundational skills (juggling, tumbling, acrobatics, mobility, conditioning, and/or handstands), followed by individual discipline practice and coaching, cool down. Students wishing to create acts will be offered the creative development support to do so.
This class will take place at Circus Culture. All students will be required to wear a mask at all times while inside for class, and will need to sign Circus Cultures Safety agreement.
