Advisors and Events
Club Advisors play a key role in the development of student organizations. Likewise, advisors can provide guidance and direction to club members throughout the event planning process.
Though advisors are not required to be present at every club event, the University Events Team (UET) may determine that a club's advisor is required to attend certain events following a review of the event details. This decision will be made based on the overall assessment of the event and the level or risk associated with the event.
Events/Activities that advisors may be required to attend could include:
- Events with larger production setups (stage, sound, lights, video, etc.)
- Activities that include a contracted 3rd party (caterers, speakers, novelty acts, etc.)
- Events that take place in a large-scale event space, whether indoor or outdoors (Barton Hall, Arts Quad, etc.)
- Events or activities that involve minors
- Events where CU Police or additional security has been requested or assigned
Advisors may be asked to attend a pre-event meeting with members of the University Events Team to discuss event logistics and expectations.
Depending on the size and nature of the event, the University Events Team will determine on a case-by-case basis the level of involvement required by the club advisor, and may ask the advisor to be present for the entire activity, or only part of the activity.
