Plan Your Family Weekend Visit
We look forward to welcoming all Cornell families October 21-23, 2022 for Family Weekend! Unlike Family Orientation, the schedule for Family Weekend will vary each day, with most activities taking place on Friday and Saturday. Families are welcome to attend all or some of the events we have planned during the weekend.
Questions? Check out our Frequently Asked Questions page for more details about the weekend.
Plan Your Weekend
After you register for Family Weekend, use our online itinerary builder to view our weekend event schedule and create, save, print, or email a personalized itinerary. We have a rich array of activities to enjoy. Pick and choose the activities that interest you.
When building your schedule, keep in mind that your Cornell student may not be available for the entire weekend due to academic and co-curricular commitments. Don't forget to ask your student what they might want to show you while you are on campus. Check out these Family Weekend tips from our students.
Please note that all events are first-come, first-served unless you have purchased a specific ticket for an event. Your Family Weekend name badge (received at check-in) will be required to access any event. Students will also have a name badge to attend events.
Check-In
You can check in for Family Weekend and pick up your packet that includes your welcome bag, t-shirt (if purchased), souvenirs, and other materials in 218 Robert Purcell Community Center at the times below.
Friday, October 21 | 10:30 am-6:00 pm
Saturday, October 22 | 8:30 am-12:00 pm
If you are unable to attend packet pickup for the weekend, your student can pick up your materials. Please make sure your student brings their student ID and a copy of your confirmation email.
Parking on Campus
Campus parking rules will be in effect for Family Weekend. Plan to park vehicles before proceeding to Family Weekend Check-In in Robert Purcell Community Center or to any Family Weekend event.
Families may park in A Lot, on North Campus, B Lot, Crescent Lot, Bartels Lot, Alumni Field, and Peterson Lot beginning at 12 pm on Friday, October 21 (no permit or payment required). Click below for the 2022 Family Weekend Parking Map.
A Lot is approximately a 5-minute walk to Robert Purcell Community Center (check-in). Families may take the TCAT Route 81 bus to get to central campus and around campus. Families wishing to park closer to the campus center may use paid parking options.
Families may park in many central campus parking lots on Saturday and Sunday without needing a parking permit or paying an additional fee. Please check the signs closely; some lots are restricted on the weekend. Take note that many local hotels offer complimentary shuttle service to/from campus.
Dining on Campus
Families can enjoy eating on campus at any of the Cornell Dining locations across campus during Family Weekend. Various locations will be open for your enjoyment. Most locations are cashless and require payment via credit or debit card, Apply Pay or Google Pay. Students may also use bonus meals for family members when eating in dining rooms. Visit the Guide to Cornell Dining page for more information.
Lodging
We highly recommend that you make your reservations for overnight accommodations as soon as possible. Check out lodging options in the area.
