A Foundation of Giving
Launched in 2019 by founding director Shakima Clency, the Cornell Kessler Scholars Program was the second campus to join a now 16-school national network. With an initial $1.1 million gift from the Judy and Fred Wilpon Family Foundation, the program has supported more than 140 first-generation students—and growing.
Cornell has proudly graduated three cohorts of Kessler Scholars and continue to build a community where first-gen students thrive and lead. With continued support from the Wilpon Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and Cornell alumni, we are expanding access and impact for years to come.
Join us in shaping the future of first-generation success, your gift helps create opportunity, community, and lasting change.
“I want to express my gratitude to the Wilpon family as their financial contributions do not just alleviate the financial burden on my family but it also allows me to take advantage of the college experience.”
