Welcome to the Asian and Asian American Center (A3C)

In 2009, A3C was established in response to years of collective advocacy from students, faculty, and staff who urged administrators to create a dedicated space to acknowledge and celebrate the rich diversity that Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) students bring to Cornell.

As a unit within the Centers for Student Equity, Empowerment, and Belonging, A3C today carries a powerful purpose to facilitate a supportive community for all students.

  • We encourage thoughtful discourse, help forge meaningful relationships, bridge cultural divides, and provide a space for students to discover their authentic selves and learn about others.
  • Our programming provides opportunities and resources for students to grow socially, emotionally, and professionally.
  • Through a wide range of initiatives we spread awareness about challenges while serving as a source of strength, community wellbeing, and joy.

Mission: The mission of the A3C is to acknowledge and celebrate the rich diversity of the APIDA student experience and to actively foster a supportive and inclusive campus community for all students. We create and promote positive interactions that contribute to the multicultural education of all Cornellians and the personal/professional development of leaders.

Vision: The A3C strives to be an affirming and responsive space that enhances students’ sense of belonging. At A3C, we aim to build a thriving community by allowing students the opportunity to connect with each other through a shared experiences and respect for cultural differences. Through intentional programs and initiatives, the A3C consistently makes strides toward advocating for social justice.

Our Pillars: All are welcome and encouraged to get involved and engage in our programs. Our pillars are defined below:

Advocacy: serve as an advocate for students. Advise on matters that impact the community and offer guidance on specific issues as they arise.
Community Building: connect and collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and members of the Ithaca community to create a physical space for connection.
Education: provide resources and conduct educational workshops and trainings for the campus.
Identity Development: foster space for students to explore their multiple and intersecting identities.
