Basil Safi
As executive director of the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement, Basil sets the vision and strategy for Cornell’s community-engaged learning initiative. Basil leads the team of Einhorn Center staff and collaborates with colleagues across the university to expand students’ opportunities to engage with communities through courses, research and co-curricular activities.
Basil is a first generation American with more than two decades of years of experience with public health, strategic communication and community-engaged learning programs. He earned his B.S. in civil engineering from Virginia Tech, his M.P.H. in global environmental health from Emory University and is finalizing an M. Eng. in Engineering Management from Cornell.
