Orientation Leaders

The Tatkon Center for New Students is hiring Orientation Leaders (OLs) to provide support during New Student Orientation for our incoming Cornell students in August! Orientation Leaders serve as mentors for incoming Cornell students by providing a holistic and meaningful transitional experience. We are looking for enthusiastic student leaders who are passionate about welcoming new students into our Cornell community. The Orientation Leader position is a paid leadership opportunity for undergraduate students.

If you have any questions, please email tatkoncenter@cornell.edu.

FAQs

Can I be an RA and an OL?

Unfortunately, no. The training and time commitments overlap for the two positions.

Can I be a peer leader in a Pre-Orientation program and an Orientation Leader?

Unfortunately, no. These positions overlap in required dates.

What happens if I’m unable to make it to campus for Orientation Leader Training, but I have no other conflicts during Orientation Week?

Orientation Leader Training is a requirement of the position, as it will equip you with the knowledge, resources, and training needed to effectively support new students. Please communicate with us early and often should your availability change.

If I’m a returning OL, do I need to reapply and attend Orientation Leader Training?

Yes! All OLs need to reapply and attend training every year. As our program adapts to support the changing needs of new students, and as our sessions and events differ from year to year, Orientation Leader Training is a requirement for all experience levels.

What if I’m unsure if I’ll have a conflict until much later in the process?
