Benefits of being an Advisor
Being a student organization advisor is a transformative experience for students and the advisor.
Many General Student Organizations (GSO) are looking for a professional staff member to become their advisor. With over 1,000 different groups with a variety of different interests, there are tremendous opportunities to make an impact. Mentoring and advising can be a rewarding way to share interests, knowledge, and transferable skills. GSO advisors must be a full-time faculty or staff member and have a desire to connect with students in a meaningful way. Serving as an advisor to a GSO is a volunteer role, and the level of advisor engagement is determined together between the student members and advisor.
