PSSP Summer Outdoor Activity Sessions

 

Sign up for a PSSP Summer Outdoor Activity Session with Cornell Outdoor Education!

PSSP Students are invited to have an outdoor adventure experience this summer for free! Check out the offerings below.

All PSSP students is entitled to one free event with Cornell Outdoor Education (COE). No experience necessary! All gear will be provided and instructors will be there to support you and guide you!

 

You must register to attend the events on Campus Groups. You can get to the event registration page by clicking the event on your chosen date below. You'll receive a confirmation email with details about where to meet, what to wear, and what to expect after signing up. Taughannock Falls

Want to do MORE activities with COE? You can sign up for more events and we'll add you to the waitlist. If the event doesn't fill up with first-time participants, you'll get a spot! You will be notified via email if you're moved off the waitlist. 

All participants will be required to sign a waiver before the activity.

Transportation provided. Meet in front of Robert Purcell Community Center for pick-up. All the trails are about a 10-20 minute drive from campus.

Lindseth Climbing Center

Located in Bartels Hall, 554 Campus Road

Details

Take out a canoe to paddle around on Beebe Lake and explore the gorge located on North Campus. Canoes fit 2-3 people. Life jackets are provided and must be worn at all times. You don't need to know how to swim to participate.

First-time paddlers welcome!

Come on a 2 to 5 mile hike off campus in one of the iconic gorges of the Finger Lakes region. The hikes range from flat and wide trails to hilly with lots of stairs and elevation change. Opportunities to wade and cool off in the streams!

First-time hikers welcome!

Learn to rock climb at the indoor climbing center on campus! Top rope climbing and bouldering available. Harnesses, shoes and helmets provided.

Canoe - 1pm to 2:30pm or 2:30pm- 4pm

Rock Climb- 1pm to 3pm

Hike Taughannock Falls State Park- 10am to 1pm 

Take a trip off campus to see the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. A short and flat hike, 2 miles max. 

Sunday, July 19th, 2026

Canoe- 1pm to 2:30pm or 2:30pm- 4pm

Rock Climb- 1pm to 3pm 

Hike Robert Treman State Park- 10am to 1pm

Take a trip off campus to hike the gorge trails at Robert Treman State Park. A hard hike with lots of elevation change, wooded trails and waterfall views, 4 miles max. 

 

Saturday, July 25th, 2026

Canoe- 1pm to 2:30pm or 2:30pm to 4pm 

Rock Climb- 1pm to 3pm 

Hike Buttermilk Falls State Park- 10am to 1pm

An off-campus hiking trip to one of Ithaca's iconic waterfalls, this is a hard hike with lots of elevation change, 4 miles max. 

 

Sunday, July 26th, 2026

Canoe- 1pm to 2:30pm or 2:30pm to 4pm 

Rock Climb- 1pm to 3pm 

Hike Mulholland Wildflower Preserve- 10am to 1pm

A beautiful off-campus hike along 6-mile creek with access to wading pools and waterfall views. A moderate hike, with some elevation change, 2-4 miles.
