Bicycle Registration & Storage

Bicycles and other personal modes of transportation or micromobility devices are a great way to get around campus, enjoy the scenery, and get some exercise! A "Micromobility Device" is defined as any small, low-speed, human or electric-powered transportation device, including bicycles, scooters, e-bikes, e-scooters, and other small, lightweight, wheeled conveyances. Use this service for micromobility registration.

Proper registration and storage of micromobility devices is key to protecting your property and providing a safe space for everyone in the community. Due to the risk of fire, all battery-powered modes of transportation, except ADA assistance devices, are prohibited in University residences, except in provided Bike Rooms.

  1. All personal electronic (battery-powered) modes of recreational transport, including but not limited to e-bikes, e-scooters, e-skateboards, and hoverboards are prohibited from being charged or stored in any University residential building outside of Bike Rooms.
    1. Electronic modes of recreational transport can be stored and charged in Bike Rooms located in the University residences.
  2. All devices must be registered on campus via the FCS Bike and Micromobility Registration Tool.
  3. Once you have registered your bike or micromobility device, you can fill out the Bike Room Access Request Form.
  4. Micromobility devices may not be stored in resident rooms, except fold-up bicycles if they do not impede egress.
  5. Micromobility devices cannot be left in alcoves, hallways, stairwells, or common areas. They will be confiscated and turned over to Cornell University Police.
  6. Any micromobility devices found in bicycle rooms or on bicycle racks after Commencement will be handled in the following manner:
    1. The device will be removed (the lock will be cut if necessary) and taken to the Lost and Found in Barton Hall.
    2. If the device is registered with the University, Cornell University Police will contact the owner via a registered letter to their permanent address.
