Climbing Competition held at the Lindseth Climbing Center

On Sunday, December 8th, The Lindseth Climbing Center hosted The Comp Before the Storm, its first bouldering competition since the 2016 renovation. Our 10-person setting team worked hard to reset the entire bouldering wall with 38 new problems, and we recruited 11 volunteers to help with check-in and judging for the event. 65 climbers competed throughout the day, and 9 winners were announced over three difficulty categories. The format was designed to provide a fun and challenging extension of the great community vibe we enjoy day to day, and all prizes were available to all participants through a raffle, including a portable hangboard, custom made chalk bags and semester passes to the wall. Several vendors, including 8b+, Butora, Eastern Mountain Sports, eGrips Climbing Holds, Kingdom Climbing Holds, Organic Climbing, Tension Climbing, and Websticker, sponsored the event through additional donated raffle items. We learned a lot about hosting this type of event, and look forward to having more events in the future.
