Dragon Day 2024

DRAGON DAY 2024

Friday, March 29, 2024

Thank you for volunteering for this year's Dragon Day! We, along with the students, are excited to see the dragon again!!

Basic Responsibilities

Each volunteer will be assigned a location along the parade route. Volunteers are grouped together in groups of 4-6. Volunteers are asked to help keep spectators out of the road, and then fall in alongside or behind the dragon when it passes their location. When the dragon arrives on the Arts Quad, volunteers will assist with controlling the crowd that encircles the dragon.

Time Commitment

The commitment for this year's event is roughly 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Friday, March 29.

Check-In & Volunteer Meeting

Please plan on checking in at Milstein Hall in the basement lobby (outside room 101) between 10:30 and 11:00 am on Friday, March 29. Each volunteer will receive an 'Event Staff' vest and credentials. Group leads will receive a radio. The volunteer training meeting will begin at 11:00 am in Milstein Auditorium. A boxed lunch from Cornell Catering will be provided to volunteers following the meeting. Volunteers will be asked to be at their assigned post by 12:00 pm, and the actual parade begins at 12:30 pm from Sibley parking lot.

Construction & Ho Plaza

The final route of the parade is still being determined. If the traditional route is used (up Ho Plaza to the Arts Quad), then we will need to concentrate volunteers in the area around the McGraw Clock Tower to manage the crowds and ensure a safe passageway for the dragon and spectators. The area around the McGraw Clock Tower will still be an active construction site at the time of the parade. The construction company has agreed to open the gates for the day to allow the dragon to pass thru using the typical parade route. More information will be presented at the volunteer meeting.

Thank You!

As always, we couldn't have events like this without our volunteers -- THANK YOU!!
