How can people support the office?

Give to the Asian & Asian American Center

Make a gift to the A3C to help us implement important initiatives that create a sense of belonging for APIDA students, allow students to explore their multiple and intersecting identities, and celebrate, honor, and educate the campus community about the rich histories, cultural diversity, and contributions of the APIDA community.

Josephine Lau Ho ’75 Fund

The A3C is sincerely grateful for Ted Teng’s ’79 gift to support our work in honor of his friend and fellow Cornellian, Josephine Lau Ho ’75. At the age of 9, Josephine immigrated with her family from Hong Kong to New York City’s Chinatown.  Josephine went on to graduate from Cornell as a first-generation immigrant in her family to attend an Ivy League college. At Cornell, Josephine and fellow students formed the Asian American Coalition - a predecessor to Asian Pacific Americans for Action - to advocate for Asian American Studies and the establishment of an Ethnic Studies Center.  She was also tasked with recruiting more Chinese American students from Chinatown in New York City to attend Cornell and be a mentor for those who came to campus.  Josephine dedicated her life’s work to community service and education and was committed to serving others with dedication, kindness, and compassion through collaboration and partnership building.

Josephine served as the Executive Director of the New Jersey Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce.  She was also an active Board Member of the Chinese American Planning Council in New York City for 30 years. Her work truly had a positive impact on the Asian American communities in New Jersey and metro New York.  In 2018, she received an award from the New Jersey Chapter of Overseas Chinese Association in recognition of her dedicated service to the New Jersey Asian American community. In 2019, for her work through the New Jersey Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce, Josephine received an award from the National Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship in honor and appreciation for her leadership and dedication to the Asian American business community.
