William Keeton House

Keeton House continues in the spirit of its namesake, William Keeton, whose research demonstrated that homing pigeons use no one specific thing, but rather multiple points and processes for navigation.

Likewise, Keeton House intentionally provides multiple points of reference and engagement from which residents can find their own way, all within an engaged living learning community. These opportunities range broadly:

  • Camping and hiking trips in the Adirondacks and Treman State Park
  • Trips to Corning Glass Museum, Niagara Falls, NY state fair, and local bee hives
  • Community engagement, including a Learning Where You Live course
  • The signature “Conversations at Keeton” series, where a special guest from around campus/the world is invited to share a conversation on a topic of their choice.
  • Graduate Resident Fellow led “Desserts and Discussion” series focused on hot topics in research and higher education
  • Indoor rock climbing, intramural sports, language learning, and food/craft opportunities
  • Keeton dinner discussions led by House Fellows
