Grant Funds Adaptive Climbing Initiative at the Lindseth Climbing Center
Over a recent November weekend, the Lindseth Climbing Center and COE hosted Paradox Sports for our Adaptive Climbing training. Paradox has partnered with The North Face to train climbing gyms across the country how to work with climbers with physical disabilities. Six students and four community staff joined the climbing wall manager for an all-day Saturday training, followed by a 3-hour program with community climbers the next day. Five climbers, all new to our facility, came out and had a blast. We employed a variety of adaptations and gear systems that we had just learned, but more importantly we put a lot of smiles on faces. More people have expressed interest and we’ll be mapping out regular programming for 2020 once the holiday break is over. We received funding for this program from a Cornell alum, without whose support we could not have made this possible! Find us on Instagram @cornellclimbingcenter to follow our progress.
