COE Coordinator, Rob Cook, Presents at 2019 AORE/AEE Conference

Cornell Outdoor Education was represented at the 2019 Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education/ Association of Experiential Education (AORE/AEE) Conference in Spokane, Washington this past November. Program Coordinator, Rob Cook, presented alongside Eva Dunn-Froebig of the Adventure Cycling Association on Bikepacking Basics. The goal was to share the experience of COE's Bike Touring program and resources available through Adventure Cycling and to inspire other programs to start or expand their own bike travel program. Approximately ninety people attended the presentation, which included plenty of questions and discussion. The conference featured several bike focused presentations and discussions, which speaks to growing popularity and interest in biking within outdoor education programs. Bike programs are in a unique position to offer the same benefits of traditional outdoor programs while also providing a platform to address broader concerns around issues like transportation and climate change.
