Career Services Awarded Article of the Year by National Organization

The National Career Development Association (NCDA) has named the 2021 Article of the Year. Congratulations to Jessamyn Perlus, Interim Senior Associate Director and Career Exploration Unit Manager, for her article being selected by the editorial team. The article, titled Career Check Up: Implementing a Campus-Wide Screening to Assess Students’ Career Needs, describes a large-scale career intervention. Inspired by screenings that recognize the importance of a quick consultation (e.g. for health concerns), the Career Check Up is a way to proactively reach students to increase awareness and use of career development resources; assess students' career-related needs; and provide brief assistance to a large volume of students. Through brief, solution-focused approaches, staff can provide career education while improving students’ career readiness and wellbeing. The article resulted in over 100 career practitioners across the country reaching out for materials and developing similar interventions tailored to their campus settings.
