Melanie Lefkowitz ’95 is the Senior Director of News and editor-in-chief of the Cornell Chronicle. She served as the acting Associate Vice President for Communications from January to September 2025. Before coming to Cornell, she was a newspaper reporter for 20 years, and her work has been published in Newsday, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the New York Post, among other publications. She taught journalism at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.  She has received awards from the Newswomen’s Club of New York, the Associated Press Deadline Club, the Society of the Silurians and she was co-recipient of an Emmy award in 2012. She has a bachelor’s degree in English from Cornell and a master’s in journalism from Columbia.
