CUeLINKS Projects

Overview

Explore different organizations, learn something new and gain real-world experience while working with experienced professionals. CUeLINKS Projects is a newly added function to the CUeLINKS platform where Cornell alumni can offer short-term, unpaid experiences through meaningful projects you can do virtually. Here are some benefits to this type of work:

  • Gain real-world skills. Projects are meaningful and tied to skills you need to develop as you embark on your career.
  • Explore careers through  projects that interest you. You can filter to find  projects by skills desired, industry, time commitment, and more.
  • Collaborate with project sponsors and connect with alumni who are industry mentors and coaches.

Considerations

  • Eligibility. Fully matriculated undergraduate and graduate students from across the university are eligible to apply. Special students who are visiting Cornell for a semester or a year but not earning a Cornell degree are not eligible for this program. To be eligible for these opportunities, students must join CUeLINKS
  • Expenses. Students are responsible for all expenses related to job shadowing opportunities, including airfare/travel, taxis, hotel, meals, background check, medical testing, etc. Students do not receive academic credit from Cornell nor pay from the sponsor. Evaluate the potential costs and benefits before you apply. Some other funding sources on campus may help with costs.
  • Availability. Projects are available year-round. Connections are not limited to school breaks. CUeLINKS sponsors have the opportunity to choose the times of the year they want to post project start dates and deadlines and will indicate if the experience is in-person, remote, or if there is flexibility in these options.
  • Length. The length of each project is specified by the CUeLINKS sponsor; students must be able to commit to the length indicated.
  • Selection Process. Project owners may require specific skills or experiences and depending on the opportunity, these experiences may be competitive. Project owners are responsible for contacting applicants with next steps if selected and will notify students who are not selected. If you are not selected for your intended project, you can apply to another opportunity.
  • Cancellation Policy. Students who cancel opportunities without extraordinary circumstances and adequate notice to the sponsor or Career Services will not be allowed to participate in future alumni projects.
  • Insurance Coverage. Cornell does not provide liability insurance for participants in the Cornell CUeLINKS projects.
