Cornell Handshake
The Cornell Handshake system is a web-based network of career information that we use to keep you informed of events on campus and provide you access to extensive resources for your career decision-making. In addition, we manage our job postings and on-campus recruiting through Handshake, giving you on-demand online access to job postings and recruiting information. You can also opt to receive e-mails targeted to your career interest area(s).
You'll use your Cornell NetID and password to log in to Handshake, and you'll need to complete a "Student Profile" by filling in information to pre-set questions. It is important to complete all the information accurately and completely so that you hear from us about the things you want to learn. (Note: Your can keep your profile private, or you can grant employers permission to view it.) If you decide to participate in on-campus recruiting (OCR), you'll be required to review and agree to the “On-Campus Recruiting Policy" and complete a tutorial.
Enroll in the On-Campus Recruiting Tutorial.
Using the Cornell Handshake System
Once you have registered, you can upload different versions of your resume by using the “Applications” link on the main menu. You can view the listed job descriptions of organizations that will be visiting campus and submit your resume and cover letter to those you are interested in and for which you meet the qualifications. You can access and keep track of your status by reviewing the "Applications" section located in the Cornell Handshake system. This segment will provide you with a listing of the organizations you have applied to, and your status for each position.
Handshake Locked Fields
Student profile information is pulled from the Registrar's data and updated nightly in Handshake. Locked fields on your Handshake profile include: School Year, College, Education Level, and Work Authorization status. If you find an error in any of the locked fields mentioned above, reach out to the following office(s) for assistance in correcting your information in Registrar's system.
