Resumes and Interview Prep

An important aspect of your career development is learning to "tell your story" effectively. At various times you will need to present yourself to potential members of your career network, to prospective employers, to graduate or professional school admissions committees, and others. The ways you will do this are through your resume, cover letter, networking efforts, and interviews.

We have developed a number of excellent Modules in Canvas, in the Career Development Toolkit, where you will find guidelines for crafting your materials. Staff members in Career Services are eager to help you learn to use the tools available to prepare your "elevator pitch," write resumes that are targeted for your career goal, craft strong cover letters, develop personal statements for applications, and hone your interviewing skills. Give yourself plenty of time to create and refine these communications tools so you will make a positive impression on those who receive your materials and meet with you.
