Campus Processing and Reflection Spaces
With Derek Chauvin guilty on all three charges for the murder of George Floyd, the nation continues to grapple with violence and killings of people of color, particularly Black individuals. We recognize the murder and the trial have taken a toll on one's emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. We are offering resources for the student community, for processing, reflection, and discussion. Please take good care of yourselves and each other.

“Just let me B.E. (Breathe and Exist)”
Hosted by the Office of the Dean of Students, Diversity & Inclusion Team
6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
This is a dedicated processing space for students who might be angry, sad, confused, or feeling numb and may not know where to begin given all of life’s happenings at this time. This space is open to all and will center BIPOC student experiences. Additional times may be offered as needed.

Connection after the verdict: A women’s processing space
Hosted by Women’s Resource Center

While the guilty verdict for George Floyd’s murderer provides some semblance of justice, we know that it’s not enough. If you don’t want to be alone as you reckon with the outcome, we invite you to join women identified students and DOS women identified staff to vent, grieve and acknowledge the impact of the verdict. This space is open to all and will center BIPOC student experiences.

This is a space dedicated to Black men who may want to process a range of emotions that they may be feeling during this time. Facilitated by Jarvis Marlow-McCowin (Associate Director for Multicultural Student Leadership & Empowerment), this space will provide opportunities for Black men to check-in, connect, and reflect on the various ways in which we can continue supporting one another during tumultuous times.

“A Beginner Antiracism and Allyship Journey for Students”
Hosted by the Dean of Students, Diversity & Inclusion Team

This beginner workshop is intended for students who want to explore the role of allies in anti-racist, equity work in the context of Black Lives Matter. We’ll introduce concepts such as racism, antiracism, whiteness, allyship and create space for you to ask questions about the verdict of the Derrick Chauvin trial for the murder of George Floyd and police violence against Black and brown bodies. Participants will also be provided resources for their continual learning and engagement. Please note: this workshop is designed for those who are new to these topics.
