Wei Gao
Associate Dean of Students & Director of the Asian and Asian American Center
Wei Gao (she/her/hers) is the Associate Dean of Students & Director of the Asian and Asian American Center. Wei has spent the majority of her career in education, working in community language schools, K-12, and universities. Through these experiences, she has gained a deep understanding of educational systems, both locally and internationally. Wei received her Bachelor of Arts from Beijing University in China, then continued to earn a Master's degree and complete coursework as a Ph.D. candidate at Syracuse University. Before joining Cornell University, Wei was the Associate Director in the Center for International Services at Syracuse University, where they served thousands of international students each year.
As an Asian American, Wei is deeply proud of her heritage and has developed a keen appreciation for diversity, including the APIDA community and beyond. Her multicultural background has provided her with a comparative lens for examining cultural identities and community-building practices. As an educator with over 25 years of experience and a mom who has raised three children (two of whom are proud Cornellians), Wei is excited to use her training and experience to support the APIDA community, the Asian and Asian American Center, and students across the Cornell campus.
