Wellness Summer: Rock Climbing Anchor Building

Climbers outdoors at Peterskill

Come learn how to build climbing anchors for your outdoor adventures! In this course you will learn anchor building best practices, get hands on use with different types of anchor building material including appropriate knots and general care, learn how to place various types of traditional protection, route finding and base management, and how to keep yourself safe while working at the edge of a cliff.  

This is your opportunity to build self sufficiency and take your climbing from the gym to real rock.

PrerequisitesBasic Rock Climbing or equivalent experience, Top rope belay certification (at Lindseth wall)minimum.
Drop Deadline2 Weeks prior to the start of the program. If you drop the course after the drop deadline, you will not be refunded the course fee unless we are able to fill you spot in the course.

Clothing
  • Synthetic base layers for bad weather
  • Cotton t-shirts for nice weather
  • Closed toe shoes.  No sandals
  • Wool or synthetic socks
  • **Waterproof rain jacket with hood, available for $7.50 from COE Outfitting
  • **Waterproof rain pants, available for $6.00 from COE Outfitting
  • Sun hat
  • an Insulating layer: fleece or synthetic fill jacket incase tis windy/chilly
