Policy Disclaimer
Our policies are informed by:
- Recreation and facility industry standards
- Warranty and liability restrictions of equipment use
- University policy
- Emergency health and safety standards
- Restrictions and limitations of the facility space
Additionally, our staff at any time may request that you cease any and all behavior that is perceived to be a hindrance to our mission in providing safe and inclusive recreational opportunities to the global Cornell community.
Our staff may:
- request that you modify your current activity, exercise, and use of the facility
- request to see your Cornell ID card, or photo ID.

Entry and Affiliation
General Building Access: Jansen’s Market, the upstairs lobby, the upstairs restrooms, and the Sky Lounge are open to the Cornell community and visitors.
Downstairs Recreation Area (18+ years old): To utilize all services beyond the downstairs service desk, a valid and active Cornell ID must be presented. These services include, but are not limited to, multipurpose room (MPR) classes and reservations, locker rooms, water fountain, indoor court, and table tennis area. Patrons may also gain access with a student guest pass, student day pass, conference pass, or with documented permission from the Cornell Recreational Services department. Student Guest Passes must be purchased on the behalf of a guest by a valid and registered Cornell University student.
Cornell Fitness Centers & Group Fitness: All participants must purchase a Cornell Fitness Center Membership (Students) or a Wellness Program Recreation Membership (Faculty/Staff) unless CFC is hosting a free access period for active Students and Faculty/Staff. Valid and current registration status with Cornell University is necessary for membership, excluding Student Day Guest Pass, conference pass, or other department approved passes. Student Day Guest Passes must be purchased on the behalf of a guest by a valid and registered Cornell University student.
Personal Belongings: Lost & Found
- Noyes Community Recreation Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- All found items undergo a strict lost & found procedure. If you’ve lost an item outside of the Fitness Center or Jansen’s, and within the Noyes CRC building, please visit the downstairs service desk during regular operating hours for assistance. If you lost an item within the Noyes Fitness Center, please visit the Noyes Fitness Center during regular business hours.

Noyes Indoor Court Policies
Alcohol Policy
- Alcohol is not permitted in any capacity within the Noyes Community Recreation Center. This includes open and closed containers. For additional guidance, please refer to the Cornell University Policy on alcohol by clicking here.
Bulletin Board Policy
All postings must be approved by the Director of Noyes Community Recreation Center. Please plan ahead as approval will not be instant.
- Option 1: Email a .pdf or photo of the posting to noyes@cornell.edu and wait for approval before stopping by.
- Option 2: Drop off the posting to the downstairs service desk attendant, when staffed, and it will be forwarded for permission to post.
Approved postings will be stamped and removed upon expiration (if applicable). Unapproved postings will be removed.
Equipment Checkout & Rentals
Table Tennis Policies
Please reserve the table at the service desk before playing.
Table Tennis reservations last for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, you may continue playing until another group has joined the waitlist. If another group joins the waitlist, you’ll have 5 minutes to wrap up your session, though we ask that you keep track of the 30 minute time limit during your reservation.
The last reservation for the night is 45 minutes before the building closes.
Building Closing Procedures
- The Noyes Indoor Court will close 15 minutes before the posted building closure time.
- The Noyes CRC doors will be locked 10 minutes prior to closing, and entry into the building will be stopped.
- Services will continue for patrons already inside of the building until the posted closing time.
- Hours are subject to change due to Cornell University holidays, activities, and campus emergencies.
Boxing, Sparring, and Play Fighting
Boxing, sparring, or any type of play fighting is strictly banned from all areas of Noyes Community Recreation Center.
Bikes and Scooters
We aren’t able to accommodate the indoor storage of bicycles, scooters, or other forms of transportation. Please lock bicycles, scooter, and other forms of transportation outside along the bike racks.
