Congratulations to McCormick's at Moakley House, who were announced this Wednesday as the first-place winner in the meat category of Downtown Ithaca's 10th Annual Chowder Cook-Off. The event on the Ithaca Commons last Saturday featured dozens of entries, and the amazing Smoked Brisket & Clam Chowder dreamed up by Gordon Baker and Susie Milos won the day.

"I can personally attest to the fact that folks made second and third and fourth trips to our booth to try this chowder," said Margaret Bruns, restaurant and catering manager at McCormick's.

For the non-meat-eaters attending the Chowder Cook-Off, McCormick's brought along a smoked tofu and roasted corn chowder that was also a hit.

McCormick's has also in the past year won first place in the meat category at the Downtown Ithaca Chili Cook-Off, second place in the meat category at the FoodNet Mac 'n Cheese Bowl, and third place in the Kids Choice running at the FoodNet Mac 'n Cheese Bowl. "A big congrats to our culinary team," says Margaret.

This time of year, McCormick's isn't open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The facility at Cornell's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course is hosting holiday gatherings this month, and has a Hockey Happy Hour before and after each home Big Red men's hockey game through the season. Watch the McCormick's Facebook Page for special events like beverage pairing dinners and music nights, and visit us when we return to full restaurant service in the spring.
