Charles Matheus

Facilitator

Charles Matheus is an experienced group facilitator and challenge course specialist with over three decades of guiding teams and individuals toward growth, resilience, and transformative leadership. A proud alumnus of Cornell University, Charles is also trained in outdoor education through the National Outdoor Leadership School. His dynamic career has included roles as a program director, nonprofit leader, and classroom educator, with expertise spanning from youth mentorship to corporate training.

In recent years, Charles founded Pinyon Leadership, where he crafts interactive leadership experiences, guiding clients from nonprofit, corporate, and educational sectors in strengthening their inclusive, mission-driven leadership skills. He also authored Leadership and Masculinity, a book that blends leadership theory with DEI insights to foster more authentic, inclusive workplaces. As a public speaker and podcast producer, Charles engages audiences on transformational leadership and social change.

Charles balances his professional life with outdoor adventures, local community activism, native plant gardening, and jam making. He brings warmth, vision, and a grounded approach to his work with the Cornell Outdoor Education Team and Leadership Center.
