High Rise #5
High Rise 5 offers students a dynamic residential experience at the center of Cornell's North Campus community. Opened in 1971 as part of the university's expansion of undergraduate housing, the building has long served as a welcoming home for students seeking connection, engagement, and an active campus experience.
The residence features a corridor-style layout with multi-bedroom units, shared floor lounges, and kitchens that encourage students to build friendships and connect with neighbors. One of the building's most distinctive features is its top-floor Skylounge, which offers sweeping views of North Campus, the university golf course, and Fuertes Observatory while providing a unique space for studying, socializing, and relaxing.

- Corridor-style with bedrooms directly off a hallway. There are communal bathrooms shared by a varying number of residents of the area.
- Several rooms make up a “unit.” Units and Floors are single gender; each unit has a study room, social lounge and kitchen. Some floors include a One-Room Quad Bedroom in place of the lounge.
- Single and Double Bedrooms contain, for each occupant: an extra-long twin bed, a closet and a dresser, a desk and desk chair, and a wastebasket.
- Triple and Quad Bedrooms contain, for each occupant: an extra-long twin bed (lofted and bunked in Triples), a space-saving wardrobe/dresser combination, a desk and desk chair, a wastebasket, and floor carpeting; visit our website for information on furniture configurations and bed elevations.

High Rise 5 rooms do not have air conditioning.
Faculty Involvement
High Rise 5 and Jameson Hall have a number of Faculty and Community Fellows that provide students with opportunities to explore and cultivate their academic, intellectual, and cultural interests. You will find them attending events in your building, eating with students in the dining room, and leading on and off campus trips to lectures, plays, films, concerts, and regional points of interest.
