Too Good To Go

As part of Cornell Dining's initiative to reduce food waste, we have partnered with Too Good To Go, to offer retail food items that would otherwise be discarded at the end of the day at a discounted price.

Through their app, Too Good To Go connects consumers with food service outlets that have excess products at the end of the day that would otherwise go to waste. Leftover food is packaged into "Surprise Bags" that users can reserve for a fraction of the usual price of the items offered.

Members of the Cornell community will be able to reserve and pay for a Surprise Bag on the Too Good To Go app, and then come to the specified eatery during their pickup window. Payment is made within the Too Good To Go app.

Note: Items included in each Surprise Bag will depend on what retail items are left, and cannot be selected. Dietary preferences cannot be guaranteed, and guests with food allergies or dietary restrictions beyond those listed in the title of a bag (such as "Vegetarian Surprise Bag") are responsible for their choice to use the program. If a Surprise Bag contains an allergen, you do not need to take it and may request a refund from Too Good To Go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when will I pick up my Surprise Bag?

Surprise Bags will be available at Mattin's Café in Duffield Hall. The app will tell you your pickup time window, which will generally be at the end of the day for the eatery.

Can I request a halal or vegan or kosher or gluten-free item, etc.?

No, items in each Surprise Bag will depend on what's left at the end of the day. Unless identified in the title of the bag (such as "Vegetarian Surprise Bag"), we can't promise the included items will meet any particular dietary restriction.

Can I pay with Big Red Bucks?

No, you're paying a third-party company, Too Good To Go, for your Surprise Bag. They accept major credit cards and debit cards with bank card logos.

What if I don't pick up my Surprise Bag?

If you don't cancel your reservation before your pickup window, and you don't show up to pick up your Surprise Bag, there is no refund.
