Vegan and Vegetarian Resources on Campus

Cornell Dining offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan options at every meal across all residential dining locations as well as retail locations, with menu items clearly labeled to help guests make informed choices. Dedicated to offering plant-forward dishes, Cornell Dining ensures that those following vegetarian or vegan diets can enjoy delicious and satisfying meals across campus.

Vegan and Vegetarian Labeling

At Cornell Dining, we use the following definitions:

Vegetarian:  foods that do not contain meat, seafood, poultry, or animal by-products such as gelatin, collagen, or broth, but might include eggs, milk and other dairy products, and honey.

Vegan: foods that do not contain meat, seafood, poultry, or anything derived from animals in any way, such as eggs, milk or other dairy products, and honey.

All menu cards with dietary information are labeled in black. If the dish meets our labeling criteria for vegan or vegetarian, it will be indicated here. If you are unsure whether an item meets your dietary needs, you can always ask the Chef or Manager for more information.

On our café and convenience store menu boards, vegetarian menu items are denoted with a “VG” and vegan options are denoted with “VN”.

Fried in Shared Oil

Foods fried in shared oil may contain major allergens

Menu items are labeled as vegan or vegetarian at the food station based on inherent ingredients. Whenever possible,  dedicated vegan fryers and equipment are used, but this is not always possible. If you prefer to avoid foods fried in oil that may have been used for non-vegan items, please avoid foods with the “shared oil” sign below.

Vegan and Vegetarian Options in Cornell Dining Eateries

Cornell Dining offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian options at all of our locations, including cafés, dining rooms, and convenience stores. We also feature dedicated vegan stations at Okenshields and Morrison Dining.

In many of our retail units you can view NetNutrition for menus, allergen, and ingredient information. You can select “vegan” or “vegetarian” as filters to find options quickly.
