Big Brother Big Sisters seek Volunteers

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ithaca & Tompkins County is actively looking for volunteers to be matched with the large number of children on our waitlist. Our current waitlist has 2x more boys than girls, so we especially need male Bigs! Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children realize their potential and build their futures. We nurture children and strengthen communities. And we couldn’t do any of it without you.

Our organization serves youth from age six through young adulthood in one-to-one mentoring relationships. Bigs and Littles hang out about once a week for a couple hours doing normal, everyday activities, like playing games, doing arts & crafts, doing homework, going out to eat, or just hanging out and chatting!

Each match is supported by a dedicated Match Support Specialist who is always there to provide resources and support specific to the match. With a Big in their life, Littles in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program are empowered to ignite their potential as they grow in their self-esteem, discover new opportunities, and develop a lifelong friendship with their Big.

Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

You can have a long lasting, positive impact on a child and our community. Oh, and it’s fun too!

Ready to apply? Still not sure? Either way, check out our website www.bbbsithaca.org and our frequently asked questions. Reach out to Molly Bargar, Clients Relations Specialist, with additional inquiries about volunteering at Mbargar@cityofithaca.org or 607-273-8364 ext. 2156
