Meet with other students in your course and discuss ideas explored in the homework assignments. The study groups are staffed with undergraduate tutors who are familiar with the course. Most students would benefit from attending these sessions. All are welcome.

Mindfulness Mondays
Cultivating a practice of mindfulness is a smart investment in your career, your health, and your overall happiness. Individuals who meditate and do other stress-relieving activities seem to feel better, do better, and find that the practice or break sustains them in their personal and professional lives. The focus of the session will vary from week to week and may include meditation, chi gong, art activities, visiting dogs, and other fun de-stressors. Specifics will be posted in Tatkon's weekly e-newsletter.

Walk into a congenial place to do Mathematics! Whether you are working individually or studying with others, experienced tutors are available for encouragement, guidance, and diagnosis of where you seem to be having trouble, whether in current assignments or gaps in your background preparation in Math. Join an informal chat with Tatkon staff members about things important for first years to know: where to eat on central, how to e-mail your professor for an extension, favorite study places, fun clubs to join, Cornell traditions, the logistics of being organized: tracking assignments, due dates, everyday class prep, reading tips, managing finances: budgeting time, money, resources, where to find jobs, how to manage a job and your social life, health and wellness tips, and TCAT and other transportation info. Topics will vary from week to week and first years are invited to add to the agenda and ask anything on their mind.

Speed Friending Fridays
Fridays, 3:30-5:00pm through September
Have fun making new friends and enlarging your social network. Everyone’s invited. Spend 3-5 minutes chatting with participants answering these or other ice breaker questions: Do you prefer to live in the country or city? If you could learn a new skill, what would it be? Do you have an early childhood memory to share? What are you most thankful for? How would you spend your ideal day? Describe yourself using one word. What are your hidden talents? Refreshments served.
