August 25, 27 and 29 Arrival Assignments

Students scheduled to arrive to campus on August 25, 27, or 29 were notified with your assigned arrival date and testing timeslot so you can finalize your travel plans.

Please understand that if your state is added to New York State's Travel Advisory list between now and your assigned arrival date, we will have to rescind this assignment until such time as your state is removed from the list. You'll be welcome to begin planning your arrival after your state is removed from the list in consultation with the Office of Housing & Residential Life.

The first step of your move-in process will be your COVID-19 test. Please arrive at your testing site during the timeslot provided. Your testing location is based on your mode of transportation to campus. See below under Move-In Expectations. You will be given a wristband after being tested to indicate that you're ready to move into your assigned hotel room where you'll quarantine until you receive your test results.

We appreciate your assistance in adhering to your assigned move-in date and time as they have been assigned in a manner to minimize the risk to students and the campus community. If unavoidable travel constraints or delays while you're en route won't allow you to arrive at your specified time, please contact us ASAP at housing@cornell.edu to discuss the situation.

MOVE-IN EXPECTATIONS

In previous email communications, we indicated that prior to your arrival to campus, you must download your arrival placard from the housing portal. This is no longer a necessary step.

Upon your arrival to campus:
  • If you are arriving in a personal vehicle, either your own or being dropped off by parents/families, please proceed directly to the Livestock Pavilion at 48 Judd Falls Road on the Cornell campus, for your COVID-19 test. Update: Students arriving on 8/27 and 8/29 should go to the Ramin Room in Bartels Hall at 554 Campus Road.
  • Once you receive your test and wristband that indicates you have been tested, pick up your meals and drive directly to your assigned hotel room for your overnight quarantine while you await test results. Once you receive your test results and are cleared to move into your residence hall room, you can drive yourself to campus, or we’ll provide shuttle service from your hotel to your area of campus where you’ll check in, pick up keys and ID card, as well as information about meals.
  • If you are arriving via bus, public transit, Uber, Lyft, or taxi, the drop-off is located in front of Robert Purcell Community Center (RPCC) at 107 Jessup Road. Proceed to the RPCC Multipurpose Room for your COVID-19 test. Update: Students arriving on 8/29 will be shuttled to the Ramin Room in Bartels Hall.
  • Once you receive your test and wristband that indicates you have been tested you may pick up your meals for the overnight quarantine while you await test results. We’ll provide you with shuttle service to your hotel and back to campus once you’re cleared to move into your residence hall room. You’ll check in, pick up your room key and ID card, and receive information about meals.

You will receive additional information on your assigned hotel location and arrival to campus.

Remember that you will need to be able to transport your own belongings to your room, which is why we've limited students to the equivalent of two large suitcases and a backpack on move-in day. If you need accommodations for the move-in process, please contact Student Disability Services at sds_cu@cornell.edu.

Friends or family members traveling with you are welcome to say goodbye when they drop you off, but will not be allowed in any campus building or your hotel room, to safeguard the health of all members of the Cornell community.

Once test resulted have been shared, if you have a personal vehicle and have purchased a Cornell parking permit, you can proceed to your permit lot or building area for belonging drop off. Students without vehicles will be shuttled from the hotel to buildings for move-in to your residence.

QUARANTINE

You are expected to quarantine in your hotel room until you've received your test results. During quarantine, you are not permitted to leave your room. Failure to comply with quarantine instructions is a violation of the Behavior Compact and could result in your immediate removal from housing and/or other academic actions.

DINING

Cornell Dining is preparing a bulletin on how campus eateries will be operating this fall, with safe dining measures including contactless payment, expanded online meal ordering options, reservations for both dine-in and takeout, and new satellite locations for picking up meals.
