Community Food Pantry

Community Food Pantry Tuesdays and Thursdays 1pm-4pm

Cornell has partnered with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and the Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) to collect and distribute much-needed meals for food-insecure families.

The Community Food Pantry opened in March 2020, and was available every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1-4pm, at the basketball court at GIAC, at 301 West Court Street in Downtown Ithaca. It ended in August 2020.

The organizers provided food packages – each containing a three-day supply for a family of four – to 200 families each Tuesday, and another 200 each Thursday. The packages include cereal, potatoes, canned soup, boxed macaroni and cheese, orange juice and rice, as well as cold items such as frozen chicken patties, frozen peaches and shelf-stable milk.
