The goal of Arena Stage's fellowship and internship program is to cultivate the next generation of theater professionals by providing the highest standard of training through immersion in the art and business of producing theater. Each summer, the American Anthropological Association offers two internship opportunities funded by member donations. Internships are six weeks in length and usually extend from early July through mid-August. Internships are unpaid, however they are provided housing and a meal/travel stipend. Interns spend approximately 40 percent of their time working onsite at the AAA offices in Arlington, VA, and the other 60 percent of their time working on-site at one of two locations: The Naval Historic & Heritage Command and The Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.

American Association for the Advancement of Science: Diverse Voices in Science Journalism Internship
The Diverse Voices in Science Journalism Internship is for students who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism and who want to learn more about science writing. The program is designed for individuals with a deep commitment to extending the reach of science journalism into communities where there is currently limited participation. The internship takes place each summer at the Washington, DC headquarters of AAAS’s Science magazine, the largest interdisciplinary journal in the world. Interns spend 10 weeks at Science under the guidance of award-winning reporters and editors, and have a chance to experience what science writers do for a living. The paid internship provides for travel to and from the internship site in Washington, DC. Living accommodations and expenses are the responsibility of the Intern. The internship runs from June to mid-August.

Scholars are assigned to a MetroHealth medical staff researcher who has developed the project on which the scholar will work and who will supervise the progress of the scholar's learning experience. Scholars spend the better part of each weekday participating directly in the research project activity. There are also opportunities for observation of surgery, hospital rounds, and other experiences at MetroHealth that are an integral part of the program. At the end of the ten-week experience, the scholars are required to prepare a project report for presentation. Many scholars have been published as a result of research done during the summer program.

Our summer internship program aims to provide an educational and work experience involving hands-on training that builds on classroom learning and represents the full spectrum of work throughout our organization.
