Welcome to the Cornell Family! Whether you’re new to Cornell or embarking on another Big Red journey with us, your student’s new college experience will be exciting and challenging as they learn to navigate their new environment. Our Becoming Big Red: Cornell First-Year Families Newsletter and Conversation series will provide valuable information throughout the summer to assist you in helping your student prepare to attend Cornell. Newsletters will be sent every other week from late May to early August. All newsletters will be linked below after they are distributed.

Becoming Big Red: First-Year Families Conversations Series
We hosted our 2023 Becoming Big Red: First-Year Families Conversation Series to assist you in sending your student to Cornell. It was an opportunity for families to learn more about key on-campus offices and services to support your student as they prepare to come to Cornell. Recordings of each session are available under each date.
For our first Becoming Big Red: Cornell First-Year Families Conversation we were joined by Kevin Perry, the Jack and Rilla Neafsey Director of the Tatkon Center for New Students. Learn more about what you and your student can expect this summer as they prepare to attend Cornell. We discussed what families can expect this summer as they help their student to prepare to attend Cornell. We will discuss important deadlines, orientation and more.

Join us for our Becoming Big Red: Cornell First-Year Families Living & Dining at Cornell Conversation with Housing, Residential Life, and Cornell Dining representatives. Learn more about what it means to live on-campus, an overview of move-in, what to bring and what not to bring and where your student will eat.
Join us for our Becoming Big Red: Cornell First-Year Families Cornell Logistics Conversation with representatives from the Bursar’s Office, Parking & Transportation, and the Cornell Store. Learn more about your student’s bill and how to pay, how your student will get around campus and about the Cornell Academic Materials Program, which will provide your student with their academic materials.

August 3: What to Expect at Move-In and Orientation
Join us for our last Becoming Big Red: Cornell First-Year Families Conversation with representatives from the Tatkon Center for New Students and Housing and Residential Life. Learn more about what you can expect during move-in, Family Orientation and what your student will be engaged in during Orientation and their first week of classes.
